Qantas has several types of business class seating. The Skybed has now largely replaced the Dreamtime seat and is now on all international flights. In addition the Skybed has two different incarnations, with the new Skybed being lie-flat, while the old one (pictured) is slightly sloping.
The Skybed seat was designed by Australian industrial designer Marc Newson and developed by USA based BE Aerospace. Skybed features include:
-
A fixed cocoon-style design to provide maximum security.
-
Privacy screens between seats.
-
Extensive range of seat adjustments, offering passengers outstanding comfort in every position.
-
Built-in back massager.
-
A large 10.4-inch screen with multi-channel entertainment.
-
AC power outlet that allows laptops direct access, without the need for adaptor cables.
-
Inflight Short Message System (SMS) with reply capability.
-
Unlimited complimentary on board telephone access to call other passengers.
-
Clever storage compartments, including a shoe cupboard, glove box for glasses, books and travel documents and a water bottle holder.

I was seated upstairs in 18K, one of the favoured window seats with the handy side lockers. These lockers make a huge difference as your hand luggage is at conveniently at... more

Syd to BKK. Seat 17A Upper deck window. Great seat with side lockers under the windows which makes accessing your hand luggage during the flight very easy. Seat comfortable even though it is an angled flat version on this 9hr flight. The cabin is in excellent condition for this 19yo aircraft. Crew were busy during meal service and could have smiled a lot more to... more
